When meditating you may wonder which position is the most appropriate; or which position is required of you to properly meditate.
The Lotus position is adopted to allow the body to be held completely steady for long periods of time.

In order to hold the body steady for long periods of time you need to be comfortable. The lotus position may not be comfortable for you; the half lotus may not be much of an improvement either.
Don't concern yourself over the details to the point that you are no longer comfortable. The importance is in the meditation, not the arrangement of your limbs while doing it.
Relax; let your body dictate which position is most appropriate for you.
